Only 1 crore Shivaling is not a specialty of the Kottaleshwar temple, but the world’s largest Shivling can also be seen in this temple. The Shivalinga which is installed in the Kottileshwar temple is 108 feet long and 35 feet wide and the Nandi which has been installed here is also 60 feet long, 40 feet wide and 4 feet high. The Kottilieshwar temple is spread over an area of fifteen acres and there is more than one crore big Shivlinga. The temple was built by Swami Sambh Shiva Murthy in the year 1980. And since then Shivling’a are continuously being installed here.
When visiting the temple, the Shivalinga, established by actor Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan, can also be seen here. There are eleven more temples in the temple complex dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Lord Brahma, Lord Maheshwara, Devi Annan Purushneshwari, Goddess Karumari Amma, Lord Venkataramani Swami, Lord Panduranga Swamy, Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshman Temple, Pancham Ganpati, Lord Anjani and End Goddess Kanyika. On Mahashivaratri, devotees from distant locations pay visit to Kottaleshwar temple. Devotees come to visit their beloved Lord and it is believed that by offering water and milk to Shankar at the festival of Mahashivaratri, all your problems are dispelled.
