The curse of Rishi Durvas had weakened them, and the Asura had devastated the world. Brahma Devadvised God’s to churn out the nectar (Amrit) with the help of Asura (demons).
After receiving the nectar, the God’s did not share the nectar (Amrit) with Asura (demons) as per their plans.
There was a struggle between the Gods and the Asura (demons), and the nectar fell on four places in Haridwar, Prayag, Ujjain, and Nashik. It was said that the water of these holy rivers turns into nectar in the duration of Kumbh.
The timing of Kumbh Mela is determined according to the calculation of exact dates according to the combination of Jupiter, Jupiter, Sun and Moon positions.
